Joy In Serving

Matthew 25:21, Timothy 2 4:7-8

Jesus said it was more blessed to give than to receive. He came to seek and to save. He came to serve rather than be served. Jesus expects service from his church and he so commanded.

I: The Shame of Idleness:
1. Ten percent of church members do 90% of the actual church work.
2. To some the Church is a place to sit comfortable in a pleasant atmosphere a few minutes a week.
3. An army with 90% casualty, would run up to the white flag.
4. The church is in a warfare for the eternal souls of men and about 90% of the army has deserted.
5. A church of 500 members, 156 of these are not resident, of the 344 left, 25% are inactive, leaving 258 to do the work, and 86 of these are content to do nothing.
6. So long as a single member is inactive, indifferent, or careless about service, the Church must be concerned.

II: The Church and Place of Service:
1. The churches responsibility is to provide a place of service.
2. The church must provide a place of training (Study).
3. Our church has a place for every member of the entire family to service after they are saved.
4. The responsibility of winning the lost was not left to the Pastor.
5. Outreach is a command from our Master to the church and to every member.
6. The church member must share the burden of the stick and shut-ins and do it active.

III: The Joy In A Job Well Done.
1. “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
2. There is joy in obedience.
3. There is satisfaction in doing a good job.
4. The surest of our love for the Master, is the service we render.
5. We gain in personal development. We will enter into the joy of Our Lord.
