This Is Hell

Luke 16:19-31

When Christians refuse to believe in a literal, eternal Hell, they become cold and indifferent about the men and women going there.

I: Jesus Knew of A Literal Hell.
1. He preached more about Hell than Heaven.
2. “But whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of Hell fire.” Matthew 5:22.
a.
“And fear not them, which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in Hell fire.” Matthew 10:28.
  b. “As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The son of man shall send forth His angels and they shall gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailed and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13:40.
3. He believed men were headed for an eternal Hell, and died to make a way of escape.

II: Hell is A Place!
1. “The smoke of their torment ascended up forever and ever, and they have no rest day nor night.” Revelations 14:11.
2. “There is no stop between death and hell.” Luke 16:22-23.
3. Hell is a place of suffering.
4. Man will be conscious in hell.
5. “The bodies of wicked men will go to hell after the great white throne.” Revelations 20:11-15.

III: Hell Will Be A Place of Fire and Brimstone.
1. “And the beast was taken and with him, the false prophet that wrought miracles before him with which he deceived them, that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelations 19:20.
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night, forever and ever.” Revelations 20:10.

2. “Could the human body stand fire forever and ever?” Daniel 3:25.

This is Hell!
Hell was real to Jesus, as real as hands, feet, and eyes.

“To help men escape, he paid a tremendous price.” Mark 15:1-38.
